Annual Meeting of Artington residents - Mon 13 May
The meeting this year is to be held at Mount Browne by kind permission of Surrey Police. As well as the usual round up of the activities of the parish council, a police representative will be giving a talk about the proposed changes to their headquarters, with an opportunity to ask questions afterwards.
The meeting begins at 8.00pm but the Surrey Police Museum will be open from 6.30pm should you wish to have a look round before the main event of the evening. it is a very interesting museum and well worth a visit, especially as it is not open very often.
The meeting of the parish council will take place that same evening from 7.00pm and an agenda will be posted on this website and on the notice boards.
More details of the meetings and access to Mount Browne can be found here:
Caleb Lovejoy Almshouse Charity - trustee vacancy
The Caleb Lovejoy Almshouse Charity owns and manages four almshouse cottages that lie in Bury Street, close to St Nicolas Church in Guildford. It was founded by Caleb Lovejoy under the terms of his will in 1676 to provide accommodation for four people in need and with a strong local connection. The cottages are housed in a Grade II Listed Building, built in 1842.
There is currently a vacancy for a trustee of the charity.
Roger Musson is currently serving as Chair. He has found his involvement with this local charity, a living part of Guildford's heritage, interesting and fulfilling. Day-to-day management is delegated to the very competent Clerk & Manager. The time commitment for trustees is not onerous, normally involving three meetings and a reception each year, plus a little more for those on the executive committee.
Michael More-Molyneux, a trustee until his appointment as HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, retains a keen interest in the activities of the charity as its patron.
If you are interested in helping the work of this small but important charity, contact Roger: [email protected]
